The first time I laid my eyes on Ben he was a only a few hours old, around 9+ pounds, his cheeks was so red, wrapped in a blanket & a dextrose in his left or right arm - can't remember. The new born screening results showed that he was low in glucose so he needs to stay in the hospital for a few more days. I wonder, how could this "big" baby who cries the loudest in the nursery be low in glucose?... hahaha
They (with her sister Ann Gabrielle) left the Philippines when he was turning 5 and her sister was almost 4 years old. They were so excited and almost forget about me as soon as they step inside the airport. It shows that he was really anticipating his reunion with Mom and Dad. I could still clearly recall the sweet grin in his face and his hands waving goodbye - "bye Tita Donskie" was all he said. Tita on the other hand was crying, we (my brother and sister in law) were all so quiet inside the car as we head home.
I just had a long conversation with Ben via YM! quite out of the ordinary actually! Normally, they would run around the house as we watched them through the webcam. Shouting a few I love yous and I miss yous every now and then but still keeping their routine of play - running, climbing and jumping here and there or just quietly eating their in-between meals.
But now, he conversed by dabbling his little hands into the keyboard answering each and every question I throw at him. When asked to tell me more about himself, he said "Is this a quiz?" and I answered, "no!". "Then what?" was his quick response. Hahaha (may pinagmanahan!)
His interests are reading facts about dinosaurs and trying on his science experiments with her mom and little sister. He even shared a few experiments with me and asked me to get a pen and paper and write down the steps. Tita naman willingly followed his instructions.
I realized that he may have grown tall, or talks with his Bristish accent- tomato as in "to-ma-to", today as in "to-day", and expressions such as "I'm perfectly fine" or "i'm good", but he's still the sweetest and most sensitive little boy I've know. I love him and misses him so much.. :)
(He promised he'll share with me more experiments next time and it's a deal according to him.. looking forward to our next "date".)
